GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Steven Leshawn McCloud will spend 15 years in prison for the 2012 attack on an Orange Park Police officer.

McCloud was sentenced Wednesday.

He was convicted last month on charges of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, and No Valid Driver's License.

In May 2012, Orange Park Police tried to contact McCloud in the parking lot of the Orange Park Billiards. When the officer approached McCloud's car, he attempted to run the officer over in the parking lot.

McCloud then took off from the area and refused to pull over for police.

Weeks later, Clay County Sheriff's deputies were conducting a checkpoint in the area and spotted McCloud's vehicle.

McCloud was arrested while driving with a suspended license.
