JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A vehicle fire is out this morning after a domestic dispute turned violent Friday morning on the Southside. Police say the husband was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.
The dispute took place at Stone Bridge Village near the intersection of I-295 and Baymeadows Road.
Police report the husband and wife started arguing Thursday night. They said the husband left.
When he returned, according to police, he lit his truck on fire then went inside and tried to hang himself.
Neighbors said it was a chaotic scene. Neighbor Michelle Spencer said, "My roommate came and got me and said that she thought there was a fire outside and then we went to the window and then the fire alarm went off and then we ran."
Police said the man was hospitalized and the wife was not hurt.
The fire spread to the building. Three apartments were damaged. For breaking news on the go, download the Action News Mobile App.
