MACCLENNY, Fla. -- A man who bolted from police after a chase through four counties is now in custody.

Deputies from multiple counties had been searching for a man believed to be armed and dangerous in Baker County.

According to FHP, two men sped off after a traffic stop in Madison County this morning, in which shots were fired.

The pursuit lasted for about 30 minutes, ending with a crash on I-10 east of Hwy. 90.

The passenger was injured and arrested on scene. The driver ran into the nearby woods south of the highway.

Deputies from Columbia, Baker, Suwanee, and Madison counties searched for the suspect in a five square mile perimeter in the woods.

A helicopter with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission also helped.

FHP couldn't say why the two ran from police in the first place. It's still not clear if shots were fired during this pursuit, according to FHP.

Traffic is being diverted off of I-10 heading east onto Hwy. 90.
