Mayor Brown selects nominee for New Economic Office

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Mayor Brown chooses his nominee for a new city office.

Theodore N. Carter has been chosen to head the new Office of Economic Development.

Carter’s appointment will manage the city’s day-to-day economic development. His role plays a key part in Mayor Brown’s plan to replace the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission with the Office of Economic Development.

Prior to his appointment, Carter was an executive managing director for CB Richard Ellis in Washington, D.C. He also has extensive experience in finance and public-private partnerships working with agencies such as the U.S. Department of the Treasury and city governments in New York, Newark and Washington, D.C.

Carter’s appointment is subject to a City Council approval. His salary will be $195,000 a year.
