JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The city declared today NASCAR day in Jacksonville in an effort to grow NASCAR in the River City.
Mayor Alvin Brown made the proclamation in downtown Jacksonville today.
The mayor says NASCAR has something for everyone and can be something to build upon, citing last week's record attendance at the Team USA women's soccer game.
Brown says he is committed to building fan excitement in Jacksonville.
NASCAR reps are also in town as part of the Gen6
Road to Daytona, which started in Detroit, and made stops in Bristol, New York City, Philadelphia, Newark, Atlanta, Jacksonville and culminating in Daytona Beach on February 13-14.
