JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - One of Mayor Alvin Brown's biggest goals as the leader of the city is to create jobs and expand business, especially in downtown. So Tuesday, he's holding true on that promise by holding a business builder.
The program designed to help small businesses gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to succeed and to help connect entrepreneurs with capital and credit.
"Small businesses will always make up an economic backbone in Jacksonville by supplying jobs as well as the unique products and services that color our streetscapes and diversify our economic landscape," said Mayor Brown. "As we work together to emerge from recession, small business is an absolutely crucial ingredient."
Mayor Brown's Business Builder will have useful information and networking opportunities for everyone from start-up entrepreneurs to more established small business people who are looking for avenues of growth.
The program starts at noon Downtown at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. Registration is free. To enroll, small business owners can fill out the registration form on www.coj.net.
