Multi-agency search for burglar who slashed homeowner in Bradford County just called off

BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. -- A manhunt for a burglar just ended in Bradford County. Police report a woman surprised the burglar and he slashed her with a knife. She was treated and released.

Capt. Brad Smith tells Action News that two women returned to a home on East State Road 16 about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday and found a man inside. A fight ensued between one roommate and the man. The woman grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the chest. The man got it away from her and stabbed her in the leg. The man took off.

Clay, St, Johns and Union county law enforcement assisted with the search.

The suspect is described as a white man wearing a black ski mask, dark long-sleeve shirt and dark pants.

The victim was treated and released from a local hospital. The suspect is on the loose and likely has a serious chest wound.
