FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots have released Quarterback Tim Tebow from their roster, according to sources of ESPN.
The news comes as NFL teams are cutting their rosters to the regular-season limit of 53 players by Saturday's deadline.
Tebow was cut, according to ESPN, despite playing his best preseason game Thursday night. The third-string quarterback completed 6 of 11 passes for 91 yards with two touchdowns, one interception and four sacks in a 28-20 win over the New York Giants.
Action News has calls into Patriots’ media relations department for an official statement.
