New police station gets green light
GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla -- The plan to build a new police station in Clay County was approved by the city council Tuesday night.
The police department in Green Cove Springs has been in its current facility since 1999, and leaders had argued the 104-year-old building on Spring Street is outdated. Some say money should be spent on more pressing county needs.
Council still needs to vote to approve a loan to pay for the new station. That will happen May 7. Groundbreaking for the station will also happen in early May.
