JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A flood watch, effective at 2 PM, includes most of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding. The flood watch expires on Saturday at 8 AM.

Steady, soaking rains started early Thursday and will continue through Friday. Flood advisories were already issued for areas around Jacksonville and St. Augustine Thursday morning due to heavy rain. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour were detected on First Alert Doppler Radar.

Overall, rain amounts up to 4 inches or more are possible through Saturday morning
