FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. - A passenger aboard the Carnival Fantasy cruise ship was medically evacuated near Fernandina Beach on Monday.
Cruise staff called the Jacksonville Coast Guard command center to request help for a 72-year-old woman who was having severe symptoms related to a previous medical condition.
A helicopter crew from Clearwater met the Fantasy at sea at 10:33 a.m.
The patient and a nurse from the Fantasy were airlifted to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach. The woman's name is not being released.
