Pedestrian hit and killed crossing US 17
PALATKA, Fla. -- Charges are pending against a driver who, police say, hit and killed a man in Putnam County.
The crash happened just after 11:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of US 17 and Kane Road. The Florida Highway Patrol says 45-year-old John Mullins was attempting to cross US 17 when he was hit by an on-coming car. Mullins was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are now questioning the driver, 29-year-old Jeffery Carter. Right now, it is unclear whether alcohol played a role in the crash.
