ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The Pablo Picasso exhibition at the St. Augustine Visitor's Center is pumping much more than just interest into the nation's oldest city.
The art exhibit has surpassed organizers' expectations, raking in $130,000, enough to cover the cost of bringing the show to St. Augustine.
"If we can get to the end of this run and break even and have this wonderful blockbuster Picasso Art and Arena show we'll be happy," said Dana Ste. Claire, Director of the St. Augustine 450th commemoration.
It's so popular, the art foundation from Spain that brought all the artwork is extending its contract with the city for three more months.
The exhibit, called
Picasso Art & Arena, will now run until August 11.
It's the first time this exhibit has been shown in the United States. The hours are daily from 9-5. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for kids 7-12. Children under 6 are free.
