JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Play It Again Sports carries about 70 percent new inventory, but it's their used inventory that really offers the savings.
A bag of golf clubs for $50, Nike cleats for $9.99, and complete gym for half off. If you don't mind buying used, these are the kinds of deals that can save you money this Father's Day.
Play It Again Sports has identified this year's hot items.
"Golf and exercise," manager David Pass said.
But those items can cost a pretty penny. That is unless you buy them used.
"Used merchandise normally sells for about half for what it sells for new."
And that can mean a lot if your dad's passion is an expensive sport.
"Golf is a great idea to buy used. Investing in a golf club is actually worse than investing in a car," he said, "because they depreciate so quickly. Brand new clubs can cost $300-$400 and you can get them for half or even less than half and they work just the same as a brand new club does."
We found several sets of used clubs with the bag for only $50. But Play It Again Sports doesn't only sell used items.
"Actually about 70 percent of our store is brand new merchandise."
And even those items are deeply discounted, including this ball finder.
"That's a hot item. Online right now it's selling for about $125. Basically, it's a video camera that detects the ball that you can't find. It finds it for you."
This weekend it's only $49.99. And the store is also offering 20 percent off on a lot of their other equipment.
And Play It Again Sports will also buy your used equipment so you can trade in and trade up.
