JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police have issued a warrant for the man they believe shot and killed his girlfriend early this morning in Riverside. Detectives are looking for 27-year-old Prince Sanders. Sanders may be driving a 2000 red Chevy Impala with tag 738-4HJ.

Police responded to a call of a person shot at 6:45 a.m on the 700 block of Ralph Street. A 23-year-old woman was transported to the hospital where she died of her injuries.

Police say Sanders and the victim got into a physical fight late last night at the woman's duplex. Police say Sanders returned to the home this morning and shot and killed her.

"They got into an altercation. He produced a handgun and shot and killed her," said JSO Homicide Sgt. Shawn Coarsey.

"It's sad. There's so much killing going on, it's just sad," said Jesse Peterson, a friend of the couple's.

Police are interviewing the woman's roommate for an eyewitness account of what happened.

According to friends, the victim had two kids, ages 3 and 1.
