VATICAN CITY -- Pope Francis clears Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII for sainthood.

Pope John Paul II was cleared after attribution of a second miracle.

Pope John XII was cleared after only one miracle attribution.

It normally takes two miracles for a Pope to become a Saint - most often through miraculous healing. Other factors are also considered for sainthood.
