FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. -- According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, a possible hand grenade was found by deputies Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies said they responded to a possible hand grenade in the middle of the road at Palm Coast Parkway East and Belle Terre Parkway.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the St. Johns County bomb squad removed the device from the scene after 7 p.m. They took it to an undisclosed location.

Bomb squad officials told deputies the hand grenade appeared to be a live device with its safety locking pin and "spoon" in place, according to the Sheriff's Office.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
