JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A group of USPS workers are getting an early Christmas Present in the form of $1 million dollars.

The group of 18, all employees of the USPS Post Office in Jacksonville, picked up their winnings from the Powerball Lottery Monday. The group matched five out of six numbers in the $579 million dollar Powerball drawing held on Wednesday, November 28.

Lottery representatives tell Action News the winning ticket was purchased at Publix on Beach Boulevard and Kernan Boulevard.

On Monday, the group declined to speak to Action News. However, lottery officials say this is the first time they've processed a Jackpot of this size. "The prize is paid in a single check. They will have to divide it among themselves. Taxes are already taken out, so each will get somewhere in between the neighborhood of $41,000", says The Florida Lottery's Steven Galaydick, "Not bad for a one dollar investment."

Lottery officials say the latest Powerball was a huge boost for education. They say profits from the drawing last week are near $25 billion. All of that money, they say, will be used in the state's education fund.
