Prosecutors want death penalty in pastor murder case
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The state wants the death penalty for a man who confessed to killing a local church leader with a hammer.
Prosecutors informed the court of their intention at a pretrial hearing for 25-year-old Terrence Rashad Wright.
He is facing charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery in the death of Apostle J.H. Bowser in April 2013.
Police said Wright beat Bowser to death with a hammer at his home. Wright then drove Bowser's car to a JSO substation and confessed, according to police.
The death penalty motion will be heard on Feb. 3.
