There's a moderate to high risk of rip currents due to the proximity of Tropical Storm Alberto, which has been spinning offshore 100+ miles east of Jacksonville. Generally dry and hot this week.
As of 5AM, Tropical Storm Alberto is a minimal tropical storm with sustained winds of 40 mph around a small center. It has been moving slowly south but will make a turn to the northeast today (Monday). Alberto's main impact on the First Coast will continue to be the high rip current risk. The surf is also a bit elevated (4-foot total seas). There are just a few pockets of rain close to the coast, but the rain is and will be almost entirely offshore. There are no active tropical watches or warnings in our area.
