JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville International Airport dipped to 47 degrees Tuesday morning, a record for the date. The old record was 51 degrees...set in 1982.

Gainesville, FL tied its record of 45 degrees previously set in 1960.

A very dry, cool airmass has settled in and won't move out until Wednesday afternoon. That gives us one more opportunity for a record minimum on Wednesday morning. The First Alert Forecast for JAX is 53 degrees. The record is 52 degrees. And the average low is 62 degrees.

Of course, very dry air equals plenty of sunshine. Even after the chilly start, strong May sunshine gets Jacksonville close to 80 degrees Tuesday afternoon.

A warming trend kicks in Wednesday and continues through the weekend. Mid 80s can be expected. Normal high is 85.
