JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- People with disabilities will be paying more to use JTA.
Starting next Wednesday, a reduced fare will be increased from 50 cents to 75 cents.
"This phased approach was adopted by the Board in December 2011 to help minimize the sharp increase of raising the fare from 25 cents to 75 cents," said Clinton Forbes, JTA Director of Mass Transit. "The new rate will put JTA in line with the transit industry standard, where the reduced rate fare is typically half the base fare, which at JTA is $1.50."
The Reduced Fare STARcard rates are unchanged. A one-day unlimited pass will continue to be $1.50 and the 31-day unlimited pass is $30.
To ride on the reduced fare rates, persons with disabilities must present a JTA Reduced Fare Card or valid Medicare Card.
