Jacksonville, Fla.  - For the past several years the Crab Cake Factory has been serving up seafood on Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville Beach. When we arrived to check out the kitchen... Restaurant manager Art Supachina came right out to greet us.

Art had no problem taking us right into the kitchen and showing us around. He said, "As you can see - we are still cleaning."
Art told us the restaurant was closed again for cleaning and because of a 'roach bombing' by their new pest control company. He told us that was why we were seeing dead roaches and roach parts all over the kitchen floor.

The state shut down the Crab Cake Factory temporarily on January 12th for this:

25-30 roaches were seen near the dish washing area

20-25 roaches were seen coming out of a pipe in the kitchen

You can see that emergency order by clicking here.

Even though we could see the bugs all over the floor, Art told us they had just been open for dinner the night before.

We asked, "How could you be serving dinner with the roaches in here?"

Art replied, "Umm... because they were hiding. They were not out here at all."

We then asked, "But you knew that you had a problem on the 12th so why would you open last night when we see dead roaches all over the floor?"

Art told us, "Because there were no roaches out here when we were working."

Something else caught our attention in the back of the kitchen. We saw a worker making soup on the stove top. So we asked Art... if the restaurant really is closed for cleaning - then why is the cook making food?

Art told us the cook was off the day before and didn't know the restaurant was closed down for the day. Art asked the cook to throw all the food out right away.

We asked, "Isn't it your job as the manager to let your employees know?"

Art told us he was also working on his day off, "I just came in today to help them fix everything."

He was adamant about the fact that no food will be served until they know the roaches are gone. Besides an apology - art wants his customers to know he will work on his days off until... "We never have this problem again."

Art says the Crab Cake Factory will be closed again on Tuesday, January 24th so the new pest control company can bomb for the roaches again.

Another manager left us a voice mail and sent this email asking us to come back again:
