BRUNSWICK Ga.-- Just over a week after Glynn County commissioner Tom Sublett was found dead, floating in a St. Simons Island marina, the reward for a tip leading to solving his death has been increased.
In the first commission meeting without Sublett, a meeting which was supposed to be his last, the Glynn County commission voted unanimously to offer a $25,000 reward to a tip leading to solving the investigation. The Glynn County Police Department is already offering another $25,000 reward.
Sublett's absence from Thursday night's meeting was impossible to ignore, his empty seat in the center of all the other commissioners.
"Tom Sublett made me a better commissioner for having served with him," said commissioner Amy Callaway. "He made me a better person and a better friend and I never thought I would have to sit up here on my last commission meeting without him."
Through tears, the commission shared the good times they had with Sublett and all he helped them to accomplish for his community.
Meanwhile, police remain tight-lipped about their investigation.
"We have some answers to some questions we didn't have before," said Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering. "But those answers have led to more questions, and that's about all I can say right now."
But with a combined $50,000 reward now on the table, police and commissioners hope they'll be getting more answers soon, for the sake of Sublett's friends and family.
