JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Momentum is building in the push to change the name of Forrest High School.

The Duval School Board voted unanimously to initiate the renaming process for the school.

The process requires the superintendent to get reaction from the school, it's students and staff, as well as the community.

"There has been a tremendous amount of community and national interest in the Forrest High School name," said superintendent Nikolai Vitti.  "We recognize and respect the views expressed about N.B. Forrest and will adhere to board policies and procedures throughout this process."

A survey will be drafted to help solicit responses from the community and other data.  The superintendent will then present the findings and recommendations whether to change the name of the school.
