JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A convicted sexual predator was sentenced to indefinite confinement.

Jody Christopher Colvin, 42, was sentenced Wednesday morning at the Florida Civil Commitment Center in Arcadia.

In 1992, Colvin pleaded guilty to lewd, lascivious and indecent assault of a minor. Colvin forced his way into a 12-year-old's apartment and sexually assaulted the young girl. Colvin was sentenced to seven years in prison for the crime.

After his release, Colvin violated his probation by marijuana use and failure to report to sex offender treatment. Colvin was then sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Colvin suffers from a personality disorder which makes him likely to engage in acts of sexual violence.

A jury declared Colvin as a violent sexual predator and should be housed at the commitment center.
