JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --
Doctors say an abused dog named Amber is recovering from surgery after she was stabbed multiple times and had her throat slit.Police in St. Johns County say the dog's owner was the attacker. Deputies arrested Randal Hart. A St. Johns County Sheriff's deputy says Hart admitted that he did it Sunday night because the animal needed to be "put down" for attacking his kitten.
Adrien Bouchot says he watched in horror as his roomate and friend Randal Hart, 28, repeatedly stabbed his own dog.
Bouchot told Action News, "This dog had his paws on his shoulders like he was his bud and he's stabbing him. I'm like, 'Man, what the heck is wrong with you?'"
One deputy plans to adopt the dog when she's well enough to leave the hospital. Deputy Dan Sorrells told Action News, "I've already run it by the family and, if Amber will have me, she's welcome in our home."
