JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are looking for a man who beat up a store clerk over a candy bar.

Police say an unidentified man tried to steal a Snickers bar from the Speedway Quick Mart on Lane Avenue South.

Authorities found the victim on the ground in a pool of blood.

A woman told police she saw a man come into the store and steal the candy bar. She said the clerk tried to stop him.  The thief turned around and punched the clerk in the face, knocking him to the floor.

The witness told police the attacker straddled the clerk on the ground and continued to punch him in the face.  After the beating stopped, witnesses say the attacker washed his hands in a puddle of water outside the store and walked away.

The clerk was taken to UF & Shands Jacksonville with facial fractures. Canine officers and a police helicopter searched for the attacker, but he wasn't found.

If you have any information about the incident, call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS. You will remain anonymous and will receive a cash reward of up to $1,000 if your tip leads to an arrest.
