Suspect arrested in Ponte Vedra ATM theft
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- St. Johns County detectives arrested a man on Friday who they say stole an ATM machine at a Ponte Vedra Beach hotel.
Police say 43-year-old Barry Homer Thrower walked into the Hilton Garden Inn last week with a dolly and wheeled the ATM out through the pool area.
Investigators say they were able to identity a woman who helped him do it. They say she cooperated with police and led them right to Thrower.
Thrower is charged with two counts of grand theft and is being held in Duval County jail.
Police say Thrower used to live near the Hilton Garden Inn and has an extensive criminal history. More charges are pending.
