JACKSONVILLE -- (ActionNewsJax.com) -- Only five short days ago, teenager Todd Dixon narrowly escaped a sinking vehicle after a wrong turn in floodwaters led him directly into an over-flowing canal.

During last Thursdays storms Dixon and a friend were on their way to Clear Channel Radio to pick up a gift certificate when he mistook the canal for a parking lot. As the car began to sink, quick thinking enabled the teens to escape through the back passenger window.

The pair watched helplessly as the car began to submerge and quickly come to its final resting place deep beneath the water’s surface.

In those few precious moments, Dixon not only lost his car but also his means of financial support. He was a pizza delivery driver so when he lost his car, he lost his job.

After seeing Dixon’s story on Action News, the folks at Duval Acura sprung into action determined to provide him with a fresh start by way of fresh wheels.

This morning during Action News, Duval Acura presented Todd Dixon with a free car. Robert Paulsen of Scott McRae Automotive Group told Action News “Members of the Scott McRae Automotive Group, Duval Acura were watching the story on the news and were inspired to help.”

Though things could have turned out much differently for the teens, this is one story that indeed has a happy ending.
