JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla -- Action News spent Wednesday morning with the locals inside Beach Hut Cafe, getting you real answers about the race for the White House and what folks here really want out of the campaigning.
Inside Beach Hut Cafe, the talk over breakfast is politics. From President Barack Obama's state of the Union address Tuesday night, to Thursday's Republican debate, these locals certainly have a lot to chat about.
"We need a real strong leader that can take us forward and put us back where we used to be as the strongest country in the world," said Randy Hardee.
Most say when it comes to who should be the next man to run the country, their minds are far from made up. So they will be listening carefully, with a list of key points they hope the four Republican competitors address.
"The economy. We need help down here as everyone knows," Vic Wallace said. "And the housing situation is upside down a lot of people are in trouble with their homes."
They're all looking for one candidate to pull ahead. Though they feel each contender has his own strengths.
"If you could take like the issue, what [Ron] Paul has against the feds, and get rid of the printing money. If you could take the conservative issue of [Rick] Santorum, if you could take really the expertise and knowledge and history of [Newt] Gingrich and the business side of [Mitt] Romney and we could create a new republican guy that would be great!" explained Jim Barth.
Most dining at Beach Hut say they're going into Thursday's debate with an open mind but really hope after that to make their choice .
