PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Tiger Woods has tossed a pair of matching five under par 67s at the field at The Players. Woods is on top of his game.
The opening 67 is the first time in 16 trips that Woods has shot in the 60s.
"I thought I played a little better than I did yesterday. I certainly hit the ball a little bit better than I did yesterday. The conditions were pretty good starting out this morning," Woods said, adding that the conditions with the wind blowing and sunny skies could make it a little "crusty" out there for the afternoon wave.
Sergio Garcia has the lead midway through Round 2 after a seven under 65 that included five straight birdies. Garcia said his second nine was the key.
"I got on a great run there where I made a lot of putts in a row and managed to make those six birdies in a seven-hole stretch, which is nice," he said.
Garcia is 11 under par and leads Woods by a shot. Lee Westwood is in the mix after a 66. Kevin Chappell matched it. They are nine under par.
We will have all of the post round reaction on Action News around 6:22. Brent Martineau, Dave DeCandis and Stuart Webber all pitch in for our 30 minute special on FOX30 at 10:30. Hope to see you then.
