JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Things will be noisier on Jacksonville's Westside starting on Thursday.

The military said there will be training exercises at NAS Jacksonville and OLF Whitehouse.

It will involve Navy carrier-based jet fighters and other types of aircraft as part of a composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) in support of the Harry S. Truman Strike Group.

COMPTUEX is a series of training scenarios, from simulated surface, air and undersea, to strike and electronic attacks that help certify the strike group as a deployment-ready fighting force.

The units involved are: Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 3, 1st Combined Destroyer Squadron (1CDS), USS Barry (DDG 52), USS Gravely (DDG 107), the German ship FGS Hamburg (F220), and the Canadian ships HMCS Ville De Quebec (FFH 332) and HMCS Preserver (AOR 510); USS Monterey (CG 61), USS Gettysburg (CG 64), and USS Kauffman (FFG 59).

Training ends  Friday, Feb. 2, 2013.

The Navy wants to hear from you by email if you have a noise complaint.
