SANFORD, Fla. -- Police said they are on the hunt for the gunmen who shot and killed a father of four in Sanford.

The shooting happened shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday outside a home in the Placid Woods subdivision.

Sanford police said Keran Stanislaus was alive when rescuers arrived at the home on Placid Woods Court, but later died at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Channel 9 has learned Stanislaus was in the Army and served in Iraq. He was also a Purple Heart recipient.

According to Sanford police, they are still looking for multiple shooters.

Neighbors said they believe there are several men in their 20s who live at the house.

The woman who lives across the street told WFTV that her husband and her 12-year-old son were home and heard the gunshots.

"Yeah, they heard about five shots. They heard knocking at the door, which of course they thought it was me just getting home from work. And when they came out, nobody was outside, and then when they walked out, that’s when they saw the guy gasping for, you know, dying and gasping for air," said neighbor Christine Brown.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
