JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Fresh off a Florida win, and Mitt Romney is already talking like the GOP nominee.  He said, "My leadership will end the Obama era and begin a new era of American prosperity."

The former Massachusetts Governor took nearly half of the vote in last night's primary election.  And according to local politico, Adam Hollingsworth, that may be enough to make him the Republican to face off against President Obama in November.  He said, "Newt Gingrich has the momentum coming into Florida.  But Mitt Romney had the message, the manpower, and the money."

Romney and his supporters spent more than $16 million on ads after losing to Newt Gingrich in South Carolina.  Hollingsworth says the Romney campaign can expect even more contributions after Tuesday night's win.  He says a Florida victory brings money and momentun, making the state the power player it was expected to be.

"When history is written on the 2012 election, Flroida will have an important chapter," said Hollingsworth.

Despite winning less than half of the Florida vote, Newt Gingrich isn't backing down.  He said, "We are going to contest every place and we're going to win.  And we will be in Tampa as the nominee in August."

It takes 1144 delegates to clinch the GOP nomination.  Romney won all 50 of Florida's delegates, giving him an estimated total of 87.  Gingrich has 24.
