PALM COAST, Fla. -- Deputies in Flagler County are on the lookout for a suspicious man who tried to abduct a child in Palm Coast.

Investigators say a child reported being offered a ride by a man driving a shiny van on Red Mill Drive. The 11-year-old told deputies the stranger was a black man with shoulder-length dreadlocks wearing a black jacket or a long-sleeve shirt with a white undershirt. The incident happened Sunday just before 4 p.m. The child says the man offered him candy and toys to get in the van.

"We are investigating this report, but at this time we have had no other similar reports," said Sheriff James L. Manfre, "However, it is always timely for parents to remind their youngsters to never talk with strangers and report
suspicious activities."

The boy screamed and rode his bike home to his mother to report the incident. Anyone who may have information on this incident is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 313-4911.
