JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Hold on to your brains, Jacksonville. It's time to register for the Zombie Buffet 5K. Last year 900 kids ran through the streets of Jacksonville, trying to hold on to their brains in the Kids Fitness Zombie Chase.
"Kids 5-15 are running from zombies. Parents or older siblings 16 and up are the zombies. Their goal is to gently place stickers on the back of the kids," said radio personality and run organizer Eden Kendall.
She is expecting as many as 1,500 this year.
"A lot of families said their kids had such a great time. Some of the kids were afraid to do it and now they want to do it because their older siblings did it last year."
And now the big kids want in on the action.
"We had such an outcry for the grown ups wanting to do this."
So this year's one-mile fun run is being joined by the Zombie Buffet 5K.
"You can register to be a zombie. You can register to be a running zombie or a walking zombie or just be a runner."
The Zombie Buffet 5K will be at the Jacksonville Landing Oct. 20 and it is a fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network.
