ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- There could be big changes coming for schools in St. Johns County. This all starts with a meeting this morning at the St. Johns County School District about the FCAT.
This morning the school board will talk about a new resolution to change how schools are evaluated. That resolution would ask Governor Rick Scott and the Department of Educaion to stop using FCAT scores as the primary way to evaluate achievement.
If that resolution passes, St. Johns County will join about 30 other districts state-wide working to end the FCAT as the primary factor for evaluating student and teacher achievement.
Right now, St. Johns schools are ranked number one statewide thanks to those FCAT scores.
The St. Johns County School Board meeting will begin at 9 a.m.
