JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Governor Rick Scott will fly into Craig Airport Thursday morning to talk about sequestration.
Friday is the deadline for Congress and the President to come up with a deal to stop massive across the board budget cuts.
Governor Scott says Congress and the President's meat clever approach, slashing budgets across the board, is an unacceptable way to run the country.
The sequestration will impact every state in America, but some are saying Florida will see the worst of it. Jacksonville could be especially hard hit, because the area is 17% economically dependent on the military.
Governor Scott says our heavy military presence might be the reason our state might feel it the worst.
"We have 20 military bases here 3 unified commands we help the military fulfill their mission so the approach they're taking by not taking a measured approach by just taking a meat hammer to try to change things doesn't make any sense," Governor Scott said.
He also sent a letter to President Obama Wednesday on the threat of sequestration. An excerpt of the governor's letter reads, "If your administration fails to do its job to responsibly manage the budget, thousands of Floridians will lose their jobs."
Governor Scott will be in Jacksonville at 11:30 a.m. Action News will have a crew there and bring you the latest on Action News at noon.
