JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- According to one emergency room nurse, Memorial Hospital had a very busy weekend thanks to flu season.
"Tell (your viewers), 'call your doctor; get your flu shot," she said.
Many people will want to get it for another reason. One in three Americans don't have sick days, which means 41 million people can't afford to stay home from work.
The virus is easily spread on planes and trains, and common on places like escalator, ATMs and even on the handle of gas pumps.
The flu is now widespread in 47 states according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Only Mississppi, California and Hawaii are not seeing a big outbreak.
There have been 130 doses of flu vaccine have been distributed. So far, 112 million have been used.
