JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The man accused of slashing another man's throat at a Jacksonville landing pub, made an appearance in court this morning.

Matthew Hinson is facing charges for murdering William Pettry. Pettry came to Jacksonville to watch his Chicago Bears take on the Jaguars, back in October. After the game, Pettry and some friends headed to the Jacksonville Landing. Police say Hinson slashed Pettry's throat in the middle of Fionn MacCool's Irish Pub.

Police are calling it a fit of jealousy. They say Hinson arrived at the pub and found his wife talking with Pettry and another friend. Before anyone noticed what was happening, police say he killed Pettry in the middle of the crowded bar.

Hinson, an Orange Park High School graduate and former member of the Navy, pleaded not guilty to the murder back in November. His trial is set for March.
