One dead, one hospitalized after house fire

PALM COAST, Fla. -- An 88-year-old woman is dead and her 95-year-old husband is in the hospital after being injured in a house fire in Palm Coast.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office received a call from Edith Moss, 88, after midnight saying her garage was on fire.

When deputies arrived at her home on Floral Court the garage was fully engulfed. The Palm Coast Fire Department arrived shortly after and were able to locate Moss and her husband Nathaniel near a rear bedroom.

Moss died on the way to the hospital. Her husband is at Florida Hospital Flagler being treated for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire and no other structures suffered damage. The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
