If you're involved in an accident in which your vehicle is damaged by another vehicle, the insurance company of the driver at fault is liable to compensate you for a complete restoration of your vehicle to the general condition it was in prior to the accident. You also have the right to rent a vehicle similar to your own, which you can use until the repairs to your car have been completed. If you've been involved in a traffic accident, you'll probably be faced with having to find a repair shop. It's your decision, within reason, where to have the repairs done. You're not obliged to obtain a certain number of estimates, and you don't have to choose the least expensive repair shop. Generally, you can select a suitable repair shop, obtain a detailed estimate for the job, and present this estimate to the insurance company responsible for paying for the repairs. Sometimes, the insurance company will negotiate with the repair shop to obtain a better price, but it's your decision what work the repair shop should do.
