ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Two students from Bartram Trail High School were hurt in a street-racing crash.

The driver of a 2000 Toyota pickup truck, a 16-year-old boy, is recovering with non life-threatening injuries at Baptist South.

The passenger, a 16-year-old boy, is at UF Health with life-threatening injuries.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened Wednesday morning along Longleaf Pine Parkway near Orange Branch Trail.

Deputies say a preliminary investigation revealed speed was a factor in the crash.

Deputies confirmed the vehicle was racing another car at the time of the crash.
