SANFORD, Fla. (WFTV) -- Two girls were killed in a crash involving a car and school bus in Seminole County Friday evening, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.
An 11-year-old girl was killed while sitting in the front seat and a 7-year-old girl died after being seriously injured in the back seat, according to FHP.
The mother, 30-year-old Andrea Ruz of Deltona, was driving.
Ruz and the 7-year-old girl were taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital, troopers said. Ruz suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Three students were on the bus, along with the driver, 60-year-old Theodore Lemon of Sanford. No one on the bus was injured, according to troopers.
The crash happened near the intersection of State Road 417 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Sanford about 4:30 p.m.
According to a report, the car was traveling east in the left turn lane of Ronald Reagan Boulevard at SR 417 and the bus was traveling west approaching the SR 417.
Ruz turned left into the path of the bus, according to the report. The bus hit the car on its right side.
Investigators have not released the name of the victims in the crash pending next-of-kin notification.Troopers has closed the southbound lanes of Ronald Reagan Boulevard while they investigated the accident.
