JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Duval County's new school superintendent says he launched an investigation after confidential school data was sent out.

Teachers, who weren't supposed to see part of the state's new evaluation system, had it delivered to their email boxes. Vitti says this was just a mistake. The principal didn't mean to hit send, emailing out all of the assessments to her staff.

It happened a little more than a week ago at Mayport Middle School. Vitti tells Action News the principal, Katrina McCray, sent privileged information about teachers to other teachers at the school.

This included assessments under the state's new evaluation system. It's information that should be embargoed for the next year.

In a statement, Vitti said, "Upon investigation, we found that the principal made a mistake and thoroughly apologized to the faculty." Vitti says the principal had a meeting with teachers where she apologized directly to them.

McCray has been the principal at this school for the last four years.
