JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Lights, camera, action! Corrine Brown is now an official member of the movie world....well. Sort of.
Michael Hyatt is playing her in a movie called "Left To Die."
"People from all over the country have been calling about it. Evidently they've shown the movie in other places," Brown said.
The Lifetime film is based on a true story Brown experienced several years ago. American woman Sandra Chase agreed to accompany a friend down to Equador for vacation. While there, she was unjustly imprisoned for drug trafficking.
Chase's daughter, desperate to free her Mom....sought the help of Congressman Brown. Together, they were successful in securing her release.
"The criminal justice system in other countries. We think ours is bad. It is unbelievable. I love helping people in my community, but I get to help people all over the world," Brown continued.
Brown says the sad thing is...she's helped with a number of cases just as bad as this one. When asked if she approved of her portrayal in the film, she smiled and said she must soon watch like everyone else.
"I was talking to my daughter and she said 'yes, it came on.' I said 'you watch it?' She said 'no, I taped of so we can watch it together," she said.
This could just be the first step for Miss Brown when it comes to TV production. She's talking to producers as see we speak about trying to so something on the Montford Point Marines. She helped bring recognition to their contributions.
"Left to Die" airs Friday, January 18th at 8 p.m., Saturday the 19th 12 a.m., and 4 p.m. on Sunday the 20th.
