SAINT JOHNS COUNTY, FL --Whipping winds and heavy rain brought down a massive tree causing a road closure in St. Johns County Friday morning.
Deputies shutdown International Golf Pkwy. two miles west of US 1 just after 5:30 a.m. The road was closed from that point to I-95.
Deputies reopened the road around 7:30 a.m.
Action News has learned, a driver didn't see the tree and rammed into it as it was blocking the roadway.
Crews spent about an hour using chainsaws, rakes and a crane to remove the tree and clean up the debris.
They also cut down two other trees as a safety precaution.
The road closure lasted about two hours. Derrick Odom is tracking all of your road closures this morning and will have updates for you every 10 minutes with weather and traffic on the ones on Action News This Morning.
