JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- JEA says its website/pay-by-phone system is down in what it's calling a "denial of service attack."

The utility says jea.com is being inundated with data.

It started overnight on Sunday.

JEA says the issue is a "corporate internet connectivity event," which is also impacting payments through JEA's automatic phone system.

Customer care employees can answer the phone, but customers are asked to be patient as wait times might be longer than normal, says JEA.

Payments made through autopay, Winn-Dixie, the Tax Collector, JEA's downtown office, and third-party locations are being processed, as well as JEA requests for stop/start and reconnect orders.

There's no word on when the problem will be fixed.
