JSO mourns loss of officer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Members of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office are mourning the loss of one of their own.

Officer Tchenter Wilson was killed in an accident on Jacksonville's Northside on Friday evening.

Wilson was off-duty and driving his personal SUV when it collided with a semi truck on Busch Drive.

Wilson was a 15-year veteran of the department and was assigned to the Community Affairs Division.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

Wilson was transported to UF Health in Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries, where he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff John Rutherford issued the following statement Friday night:

"This is a sad day for the men and women of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Officer Tchenter Wilson, a 15-year veteran of our agency was killed tonight in a crash, while off duty in his personal vehicle. Anytime we lose one of our JSO family it is difficult. Our prayers are with the Wilson family, and we stand ready to assist them and his many friends in any way we can."
